Cautionary tales passed down among the Pelupelu suggest that upon learning of this creature's status as an apex predator, an itinerant Eorzean naturalist issued the confusing statement that it “certainly has the milquetoast countenance of a champion,” and began muttering a slew of potential appellations. Some of these sounded like “dirklander” or possibly “burpswimmer,” and so, in an attempt to save the poor fish's reputation abroad, the local Pelupelu kindly informed him of its indigenous name ere setting off in search of a stiff drink.
