FFXIV missing mounts and minions: read your Lodestone profile and see how to get each

The Mount Guide and Minion Guide in the game show what a character already owns. They do not list what is missing or say where to get it. The collection check reads a character's public Lodestone profile, compares its mounts and minions with every mount and minion in the game and lists the missing ones with how to obtain each.

Where do I find my character on the Lodestone?

Search your character's name on the Lodestone and open its page. Paste that page's address into the collection check, or only the number in it. The tool reads the mount and minion lists that the Lodestone shows publicly; nothing is ticked by hand and nothing is stored on our servers.

Why does a list show nothing?

The Lodestone shows a mount or minion list only when the character has at least one. When a list is absent the tool says so instead of marking everything missing. Read the profile again after you register a new mount; the Lodestone updates its pages some time after you log out.

How are mounts and minions obtained?

Each missing entry lists its sources: duties and trials, FATEs, achievements, Gold Saucer and seasonal events, vendors and exchanges, the Mog Station and more. Where the game gives it through an item, such as a whistle or a horn, the item is linked; its page shows where to buy or earn it. Filter the list by source to plan one kind of content at a time.

Worked example

A character that owns most mounts but not Ixion sees it in the missing list. The entry links the Ixion Clarion, the item that registers the mount. The FATE A Horse Outside in The Lochs drops Ixion Horns, and Eschina in Rhalgr's Reach exchanges twelve of them for the clarion. The same entry also names the faux leaves and Wondrous Tails rewards that offer it.
