FFXIV Ocean Fishing: routes, bait and the Sothis window

Ocean Fishing visits three fishing stops in one voyage. A fish can require a particular stop, time of day and spectral current, so choosing a departure matters before you cast. The Ocean Fishing planner finds departures for the fish you want and keeps their bait and catch requirements together.

How do I unlock and board Ocean Fishing?

Complete All the Fish in the Sea, then speak with Dryskthota at the ferry docks in Limsa Lominsa. Choose the route during registration and board the Endeavor. The ship moves between its three fishing stops automatically.

Registration opens every two real-world hours. The planner displays the opening in your local time; the Day, Sunset or Night beside a stop is that stop's fishing phase, rather than your computer's time of day. Read all three stops before picking a voyage.

Which voyage has the fish I want?

Choose a target fish first. The remaining departures are voyages that visit its stop during an applicable phase. Select one departure to see its itinerary, then open the relevant stop. Fish in ordinary waters and fish caught during a spectral current are listed separately.

A listed voyage gives you an opportunity, not a guaranteed catch. Spectral-current fish still require a spectral current, and an intuition target still requires its prey. Achievement targets describe the individual or party catch requirement; seeing the achievement beside a stop does not complete it.

What bait and intuition requirements should I prepare?

Use the bait listed on the fish's row. A mooch chain names the fish between the initial bait and the target; prepare for that sequence instead of treating every fish in the chain as a bait item. Open the fish's preparation control to carry that target into Fishing Windows.

Fisher’s Intuition can require several catches in specific quantities and can last only a few seconds. Read the prey and duration before boarding. A fish's ordinary point value is not a prediction of your voyage's final score.

Worked example: Sothis at night

Sothis requires a night spectral current. Open this Sothis voyage selection and pick a departure that fits your own availability.

Bring Glowworms. The intuition trigger is two Heavenskeys and one Navigator's Print. The resulting intuition lasts 15 seconds. Check those prey before the stop begins, then use the target's bait while the intuition and night spectral-current conditions coincide.

The planner's 500-point value belongs to Sothis itself. It does not promise that the current will occur, that a cast will catch Sothis or that the voyage will reach a particular achievement score.

How do I keep the voyage and its reminder?

Your route and target remain in this browser after reload. A shared selection opens as a preview; choose Keep this voyage to replace your saved selection deliberately. The language switcher carries the same fish and voyage into the other language.

Select a reminder on the chosen voyage, choose its lead time and enable browser notifications. Keep the page open for delivery. A selected reminder and permission to show notifications are separate states; a blocked browser permission needs changing before a notification can appear.
